Day 1: Arrival to Havana
You will be met at Havana airport or Varadero airport and taken to your accommodation. You will be expecting a preliminary program and the rest of the evening your own leisure. Dinner is not included.

Your journey begins in Havana - the cosmopolitan city of Cuba. For Cubans, Havana is the beginning and end of all things and also for road and rail transport, this city is a hub. Generally, transport a problem in Cuba as few people own a car and the buses are relatively expensive. For this reason, the web is a popular means of transport.

Day 3: Havana – Guanajay - Artemisa – Mariel - Havana (B)
Today you make an excursion from Havana to Artemisa and Mariel.
Artemisa was founded in 1818 and has developed well due to the production of coffee, tobacco and sugar cane and the construction of new roads and railways during the 19th century. A famous monument is "La Trocha", a 32km long wall that goes from Mariel on the north coast to Majana on the south coast. This was built during the struggle for independence, since the Spanish colonial army was afraid that the troops coming from the east could advance to Cabo de San Antonio on the western tip of the island.
Mariel was until recently a sleepy village and has now developed through the project "Freeport Mariel" to an industrialized city Klei. There is a new railway line between Havana and Mariel since 2015.

10.00 hrs: From Guanajay you'll go by bus on the main road "Carretera Central" to Artemisa. Where you can visit the monument "La Trocha"

12.30 hrs: Continue towards Marie and visit the Angerona coffee plantation. This was established in 1813 and was the second largest in the country, in the 19th century

Day 4: Havana – Hershey’s Chocolate train - Havana (B, L)
Today you will learn more on the Hershey railway officially known also as the Ferrocarril de Norte. It is the only electric railway in Cuba. Hershey’s is the largest chocolate manufacturer in the world and this bought early 20s large estates between Havana and Matanzas and built 7 large sugar factories. For the transport of sugar cane, factories donned owned railway lines. The Cuban government then had Hershey’s obliged to create not only tracks that served for the transportation of sugar, but also connect some places on the island with a railway line. The result, was the ultimate Hershey chocolate train.
You will get to Cristo Havana by bus in the morning. There, you have a fantastic view over the harbor bay and the old town. Then go on to the village of San Francisco de Paula, where the country house of Hemingway is, and is now a museum. After visiting the museum we head to the village of Matanzas Hershey, which is named after the famous chocolate manufacturer. The local factory has closed down.
From there, take the electric train Hershey "chocolate path" through a hilly landscape to Jaruco. After a short stop we will return to Hershey. This will be followed by lunch in the "Jardines de Hershey" (Gardens of Hershey), where until the revolution, the manager of the factory celebrated their festivals. Then go back to Havana, where you can visit the "Rum Museum" and enjoy some rum tasting.

Day 5: Havana – San Antonio – Havana (B, L)
The train journey to San Antonio starts at the small station Tulipanes. For a long time this stop is part of the oldest railway line of Cuba, till the new central station was built in 1911. The rails have been removed and today Tulipanes is a single-track railway terminus. The line starts here out of nowhere.
San Antonio de los Baños is located south of Havana and is one of the small farming towns, which are around Havana. Since all are connected by railways, benefiting not only the capital of which is supplied with food and agriculture products, but also the small towns have improved connections.
09.00 hrs. Drive to Tulipanes station
10:00 hrs. Ride on a local train (Lechero) of Tulipanes to San Antonio de los Baños. There will be Bicycle Taxis "bicitaxis" waiting at the station that will allow you to make a round trip through San Antonio. You can also visit the "Museo de humor", which has a large collection of Cuban cartoons from the period of the Cold War.
You will have lunch in a Paladar (private restaurant) in San Antonio and then go back to Havana.

Day 6: Havana – Viñales – Pinar del Rio – San Diego de los Baños (B, D)
Today you will learn more on Viñales and Pinar del Rio. Pinar del Rio is located about 160 km west of Havana and is the capital of the province. There, they grow the best tobacco in the world, from which the famous "Habanos" cigars are made. The train goes from Havana to Pinar del Rio and continue west to the town of Guane.
Viñales is also in the province of Pinar del Rio, about 25 km north of the provincial Viñalestal Capital is not only famous because of its tobacco fields, but also because of its beautiful landscape. The lush tropical landscape and the dominant hills in the region Viñales, called Mogotes, are the remains of giant collapsed caves. In between are the green tobacco fields with red soil.

Here you have a full program. Visit a tobacco farm "Veguero" and learn how a demonstrator rolls a cigar. Furthermore, you can visit the Cueva del Indio and make a short boat ride on an underground river. A visit to the Mural Prehistorico with modern rock paintings is scheduled. The best view over the Viñales is magnificent "Mirador de Los Jazmines".
13.00 hrs. Use the free time to explore the center of Viñales
15.30 hrs. Transfer to the station in Pinar del Rio
17:43 hrs. Ride on the slow train – Lechero or the sol called "Milkman" to the village of Los Palacios.
19.00 hrs. Arrival in Los Palacios and transfer to the hotel in the small town of San Diego de los Baños.

Day 7: San Diego de los Baños – Guines - Playa Giron (B)
09.00 hrs. Head towards the center of the island. About the national main road "A1" it goes to the nature reserve "Peninsula Zapata" (about 300km). Along the way you can use the free time for lunch (own expense).
This peninsula is the largest marsh and bird sanctuary in Cuba and is covered with mangrove forests. Visit the lagoon lake "Laguna del Tesoro" there and take a boat trip to a lagoon-island, where you will visit an open air museum "Aldea Taina". Amidst the Zapata Peninsula, is the Bay of Pigs, where in 1961, the National Army of Cuba defeated an attempted invasion of Cuban exiles. The museum "Giron", which is located at the end of the 30 km long beach of the Bay of Pigs, keeps the memory of this famous invasion attempt awake.

Day 8: Playa Larga – Cienfuegos - Santo Domingo - Cienfuegos (B)
Today you learn all you need to know Cienfuegos and Santo Domingo. Cienfuegos was built in the early 19th Century checkerboard style of French architect and served as a port of export for sugar. Even today it is the largest port on the southern coast in the center of the island. The port city is connected by a railway line with Santa Clara and some small towns in the area.
See also with Santo Domingo. In this city, many people who work in the oil refinery live in Cienfuegos.
You will go through a very flat landscape of Playa Larga to the east by bus, the port city of Cienfuegos. In the district of Punta Gorda, a peninsula in the Bay of Cienfuegos, is the former millionaire's villa "Palacio de Valle", which was built entirely in the Moorish style. From the roof terrace, you have there an amazing view of the bay and the city. In the distance a remnant can be seen from ancient times. The unfinished building of an unfinished Russian realtor, which has never been started. On foot you will proceed through the historic center. Here your guests can visit the Terry theatre built in the 19th century and is well preserved. In the afternoon, you will go on to the station of Cienfuegos and from there take a train to one of the smaller cities as Santo Domingo. The return trip to Cienfuegos is by bus.

Day 9: Cienfuegos – Trinidad - Santi Spiritus (B)
The second port city on the south coast of Trinidad. This was the end of the 18th century very rich by sugar cane cultivation in the fertile "Valle de Ingenios". The Old Town is like a Film set and has hardly changed since the early 19th century. Trinidad also is connected to the main line in the center. Here, they sporadically run small railcars and sometimes a steam train for tourists. Otherwise, the city is quite cut off with only two roads leading in and out.
Santi Spiritus is the sister city of Trinidad. It is located inland and the agricultural life surrounding it. There are many horse carts and taxis and very few cars that date from the period before the revolution. In the evening the streets here are very active, as in the old days. Following the abolition of the rail link, there is now only one road connecting Trinidad with Santi Spiritus and thus with the outside world.
In the morning, you’ll take the bus from Cienfuegos to Trinidad and there walk through the historic center of the city. There you visit an ancient palace of a sugar baron and enjoy the view from the rooftop of the old center of the city.
Then visit a typical bar "Canchanchara", where you can sample a honey-rum cocktail, which is typical of Trinidad in a bar and live Cuban music. Free time for leisure pursuits. In the afternoon you‘ll take the bus to Santi Spiritus. On the way, you can stop at the "Mirador de Valle", where you have a beautiful view over the valley and the Cuban Escambray Mountain. Before you reach the town of Santi Spiritus, you will still get to see Manaca Iznage the famous slave tower.

Day 10: Santi Spiritus - Tunas de Zaza - Santa Clara (B, D)
Today we go to Tunas de Zaza and Santa Clara located on the southern coast of Cuba, east of Trinidad. A branch of the central main railway line runs through this place in the south.
Santa Clara is the State of Che Guevara. It has added to his resistance fighters, the Battista regime the decisive final blow. Shortly after Battista fled the country and the new revolutionary Cuba has begun. Throughout the city to refer to our website monuments and remnants of that time. Today's journey takes us to the foot of the Escambray Mountains to the town of Formento. A branch line via a very remote countryside of Santa Clara to Trinidad. Due to the destruction of a major bridge on the route, it's gone very quiet there. The last stop on the line is Sopimpa. For the small towns on the route of the train is the only connection to the outside world.
07.00 hrs. Early start to the small town of Placetas Station. Here we open the sidelines in the central main line.
08:20 hrs. With a small train, it will take you from Placeta to Fomento.
09:45 hrs. After a short stay in Fomento, you’ll go by train further to Sopimpa the south, where the route ends.
The Escambray Mountains are getting closer. They lie on the other side of the river. Due to the destruction of the bridge, there is no transition to the other side. In Sopimpa people live like outcasts. The little train is almost the only link to the outside world, as the roads in the foothills are very narrow and bad. You will go by bus from Sopimpa back to Santa Clara, where you have time for lunch (at your own expense).
In the afternoon, Guests can visit the "Tren Blindado", the Plaza de la Revolucion and the Mausoleum of Che Guevara (Closed by this time not for political parties or activities for the public)

Day 12: Santa Clara – Remedios - Cayo Santa María (AI)
The last day of the program will take you to Remedios, a small village a few kilometers from the north coast. Remedios is known known for its annual carnival celebrations and because an artificial causeway here to the islands of Cayo Las Brujas and Cayo Santa Maria. There in recent years international Resorts emerged. Situated near the village is a disused sugar factory that has been converted into a museum. The steam engine, which used exclusively brought sugarcane to the factory, now riding for tourists - one of the few remaining opportunities to see a steam engine in operation.
